Phoenix has an almost inexhaustible supply of shopping centers abandoned by their anchor tenants. Grocery chains that merged, or stores that relocated to less murder-y neighborhoods a mile or two up the road. Some of these semi-abandoned strip malls host traveling carnivals a few weekends a year. Best to wait until the sun goes down before visiting. The temperature might be less awful, and the bright lights almost drown out the blight lurking in the shadows.
